Experiencing the
Resurrection
Henry & Melvin Blackaby /
Multnomah
Subject: Christianity; Theology
c $16.99 ISBN 9781590527573

Is Christ’s resurrection a doctrine or an experience? Henry and Melvin Blackaby focus

on the latter. They say that when God raised Jesus from the dead, He also made it possible for Christ’s life to reign eternally in the lives of His followers. “The resurrection…is not a doctrine to be pondered but an invitation to experience the living Christ in your life,” they say in the introduction.

The book divides into three parts – the resurrection in the mind and heart of God, in the life of the Lord Jesus, and in the longest part of the book, in the believer’s daily experience in

terms of life, peace, joy, power, authority, confidence, hope, and uncommon life.

Readers of the Blackabys’ other books will enjoy this one. It’s practical and easy to follow.

as her own talk show,

Heart to Heart with Sheila Walsh, now gives us her new book, Get Off Your Knees and Pray. In her book, Sheila presents the subject of prayer as something we all do every day, not just in formal settings such as

in church, at the dinner table or on our knees with our heads bowed. Every time we murmur a thank you, or hold a conversation with God at a stoplight on our way to work, we are praying. Our heavenly father looks forward to these intimate conversations as much as we look forward to them with our own children. Engaging in an ongoing conversation with our trusted friend draws us closer to him. Walsh states that if we only pray when we are in need, or wounded, we will

miss the bond that is formed by sharing our day-to-day thoughts, desires, and concerns with our dear friend, Jesus. I would highly recommend Get off Your Knees and Pray to Christian book clubs, Bible study groups, and anyone desiring a closer relationship to God through prayer.
