Children’s In-Store Ministry ++

or video store events. Upload photos or clips to You Tube.com or God Tube.com or your own store Web site. (People love to see themselves!) As your store ministry embraces children and families and opens new avenues for partnering with local churches, more people will discover your store.

Create A Buzz in Your

Children’s Area

Local libraries and general-market bookstores offer story times to preschool and school-age children. Become known as a place where children can hear stories packed with truths from the Bible and make personal life applications. Every bookstore offers “Veggie Tales,” but your store can demonstrate ways to apply what the videos teach. Again, tap into local church ministries or offer a staff-led Bible Story Power Hour. Offer video previews, a reading from a Book of the Month (you’ll need a fun activity that supports the reading selection) or use a model like this: Start with an attention grabber, tell a Bible story or show a video clip, share a modern-day application, and make a Scriptural connection. Also, add a product tie-in so parents know which products you have that support the lesson taught. For example, give parents a handout of theme-related products you have in your store or create a display in your story area for parents to look at while their children are listening to the Bible story. Offer discount coupons for these highlighted products.

Parents can give you feedback about how children are affected by what they learn in your store. Offer an in-store journal or discussion board on your Web site to gather testimonials.

Be More Than A Store

Remember JJ’s family and all the families in your community who have similar stories as you set goals for how you can be known in your community as the place to find resources to help children grow spiritually. Any store can stock their shelves with the best kids’ product around. Be the store that allows ministry to happen through those products. Be a place where families gather to learn about God and discover products that are ripe with spiritual fruit. Energize your store to be a destination for children’s events. Partner with churches to highlight their children’s ministry talent. Discover how your store can make an eternal difference in the lives of children.

Ministering to kids has a way of putting smiles on our faces. Set a goal to find some new reasons to smile! N'N
